Literacy

This week in Literacy our topic of animals will continue.

Next week we will be looking at Night and Day animals.

 

We will be talking what animals are more active at night or day.

 

They will also continue to make crafts to add to the pet shop.

 

 

Maths

 

Next Week´s Maths focus is:

 

Introducing seconds, minutes and hours.

They will be seeing how many actions they can do in 1 minute and how many sandcastles they can make in 1 minute.

 

Introducing 3D shapes

They will be building with 3D shapes, shape printing and guessing the shape.

They will be learning the features of 3D shapes.

 

 

 

Read Write Inc

 

Read Write Inc will continue with the same groups next week.

 

Group 1: Set 1 sounds

Group 2: Blending

Group 3: Ditty

 

I will be sending some homework home next week for the children to practice their letter formation.

Theatre visit

Yesterday, the school had a visit from a theatre company to come and do a show for tem about healthy eating.

 

 

 

It was an interactive show, the children really enjoyed it. They got up dancing and joining in with the show.

 

To follow on from this in a few weeks, Reception will do a week of Healthy eating in their Literacy lessons. 

Literacy- Pet Shop

First day of our new Literacy topic, the children really enjoyed role playing in the pet shop.

They pretended to be the shop keeper and the customers, using their English to ask for what they wanted to buy and language related to money. 

This afternoon we have started making fish tanks, and turtle trays to add to the role play area.

If anyone has anything that would not mind borrowing the class that could enhance the area further, it would be greatly appreciated. 

Story telling week

Reception had a visit from Miss Tina on Friday. 

The children really enjoyed listening to the story the Princess and the Pea.

The children were having so much fun dressing up as the different characters and singing along to a song about a Princess and a Prince.

Role play area

 

From next week, reception´s literacy topic will be animals.

We start next week learning about pets.

The role play area in the classroom will turn into a pet shop, if anyone has any unused animal food bowls, collars, cages, plastic fish tank, etc the children would really appreciate it.

Story telling week

 

The children have enjoyed listening to lots of different stories this week for story telling week.

They have acted out a story and songs using costumes and completed lots of different activities to go with each story.

 

Next week the children´s timetable will return to normal.

Read Write Inc

 

From this week, the Ditty group in RWI will be taking home a Ditty story book (small red book with Read Write Inc Ditty 1 on it) on Thursdays, this book must be returned on a Monday as it will be used during the lessons.

Reading books

 

Just a reminder that reading books should be handed in on Thursday, so that Miss Lizzy can change them.

Can you please sign the reading diary so that we know that your child has read the book with you, as Miss Lizzy will not change the books as she is under the impression that the book has not been read.
