Maths focus

This weeks maths focus the class will be exploring length and height, using the language associated with comparing and measuring. They will also begin to explore capacity using the terminology ʻemptyʼ, ʻhalf fullʻ and ʻfullʼ. They compare the capacities of different containers and explore capacities through play.

Today we started ordering by length, introducing the vocabulary longest/longer and shortest/shorter.

Throughout the day the class were given the opportunity to use different objects around the room such as the play dough, the train track, the building blocks, interlocking cubes, etc to create longer and shortest lengths. A third length was then added for the children to order correctly.

Reading books

I sent home reading books before the half term, but as I was in the UK and then Lizzy returning today, we have not had a chance to change their reading books.
From next week, a box will be next to the snack box and on Thursday could you put your child’s reading book and dairy into the box and then we will change them and send a new one h9me on Friday.

I will also put a box for message books, if on a daily basis you put the message book into the box so that I can read and messages you have put in and they are there for me to write any messages in for that day.

Thank you

Miss Lizzy

Welcome back Miss Lizzy

Message books

I will be sending home message books from today, which I will write in if your child has any accidents, if they have not eaten much, etc.

As many children attend after school clubs, and do not see myself at the end of the day I would like to ensure that messages do get passed on.

I will only write in the books if information needs to be passed on, if your child has had no incidents/accidents, etc then I will not write in these books.

These books are also a way of communication information from home, for example if someone different will collect your child, if they have been unwell the previous night, etc again so that if you do not see me to tell me I can read it and am aware of such things.

Miss Liz

Just a quick update on Miss Liz, she is still under physiotherapy on a daily basis, but unfortunately they have not been able to manipulate her knee back into place.

The specialised has said that it will be a minimum of 2 more weeks before she may be able to return to school.

I have sent her all all you well wishes on a speedy recovery and return to school.

Miss Maria will continue to cover to ensure consistency within the class.
